MWV Velo Bicycling Club’s Kids’ Bike DayThe Mount Washington Valley Velo Bicycling Club Kids’ Bike Day will take place on May 2nd (rain day May 3rd) from 10:00 to 3:00 at Story Land in Glen. The event is open to all kids, ages 6-12, who live or vacation in the Valley region.After registration, participants’ helmets will be inspected for safety. A new free helmet will be issued to those in need.

The 2009 Kids Bike day will be held on May 2 (3 rain date) at Storyland. A group of volunteers met at the Met and began planning. It became obvious that to be successful, we would need many volunteers for planning, mechanical expertise, organizing/leading, assisting on May 2, cooking, and probably many other areas. It was a good day for a ride and nearly 30 people came to participate. There were at least 5 different rides that folks chose to do: A longer, through Crawford Notch to Jefferson/Whitefield and back ~85 miles. The first annual Bike and Gear Swap/Donate held last Saturday, June 14, was a real success. Over 20 tables of Bike and Recreational Gear were available with proceeds from the tables going to the N. Conway Library. The club gained several new members, made some money for our youth cycling program from sales donated items and helped give the community an opportunity to reuse and recycle

Tom Matchak, Marianne Borowski and I just climbed the East side of Bear notch road this afternoon. We had fatter tires on (I was on a mountain bike) and we were able to negotiate all the way to the height of land beyond the 3rd lookout. There were some snow crossings that should disappear in a few days. At the height of land, however there is still about a packed foot, or so, of snow, so that
